Chromium 6 is naturally occuring in the groundwater around Hollister. Some of Sunnyslope's wells have historically show significant variablility in the Cr-6 concentration, at times exceeding 10 ug/L which is the new Maximum Contaminant Level for Cr-6.

To address this, Sunnyslope plans on implementing projects that will allow for well water to be directly blended with imported treated surface water. This reduces the concentration of Cr-6 in the water delivered to customers to be below the regulatory limit. This is far more cost effective than implementing treatment facilities and processes to remove the Cr-6 from the well water and is equally as effective at reducing the health risk.
