Valve Replacement

Sunnyslope currently has over 3,000 valves on water mains within our water distribution system.  These are primarily buried under paved roads with traffic rated access lids. The oldest valves date back to the early 1960s. Sunnyslope staff routinely exercise (close and open) the valves to make sure that they are operational and will be able to fully close if we need to isolate a section of pipe for repair. Whenever staff discover a valve that does not operate properly, it is noted and placed on the list for repairs. Once a sufficient number of valves are on the repair list, Sunnyslope conducts a project to remove and replace the problematic valves.
