Air Blower Replacement - Ridgemark Wastewater Treatment Plant
Summary
Sunnyslope is replacing the air blowers at the Ridgemark Wastewater Treatment Plant to improve the plant's operational and electrical efficiency.
History
The Ridgemark Wastewater Treatment Plant was originally designed in 2010 and used what was then the State of the Art technology for aeration blowers. Those blowers used air bearings for the air fans which minimize the energy usage while it is running. These are most efficient when running continuously for very long periods of time without many starts and stops as that causes major wear on the blowers. Unfortuantely, the normal operation of the Ridgemark Wastewater Treatment Plant called for the blowers to turn on and off many times per day. To prevent excessive and costly wear on the blowers, they would run continously at low speeds, even when not required for treatment.
Blower Replacement
In 2024 Sunnyslope replaced one of the blowers with a new style that can handle many starts and stops without wear. These blowers are still very efficient and can be turned off when not needed for operation. The old blower being replaced was sold to San Benito Foods for use at the Hollister Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant. In 2025 the second blower was replaced to provide uniformity in the equipment and efficient redundancy.
